Learning about Local Heroes Program

Sunday, February 25, 2024 - 2:00pm

ABC welcomes Women & Girls Education (WAGE) International , a non-profit organization that offers mentoring programs to empower young people to stand up against violence through education. On Sunday, February 25th at 2pm we will be celebrating Black History Month by learning about local heroes and being a local activist through letter writing!

Black History Month

"Celebrating Local Heroes"

Join us as we celebrate three local civil rights activists who changed the face of New Jersey with courage, perseverance and compassion--Rev. Gilbert Caldwell, who once walked with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, and Tom & Maxine Daniels, a couple who spent a lifetime enriching the lives of others through education, housing and handing down what they learned to their children. We will gather for conversation and watch a short film that highlights how a group of local students took action through letter writing to combat racism. You too will be able to write your own activist letter!

This program is open to all ages but we are encouraging parents to come with children ages 9 and up!
