Where books inspire, communities thrive.
The Asbury Book Cooperative (ABC) is an independent nonprofit bookstore serving as a hub for literature and the arts in the heart of Asbury Park. Our mission is to promote literacy, provide access to books and offer a community space for everyone.
Our Programs
Book Clubs & Community Events
We host a variety of in-person programs creating spaces for reader and non-readers alike to make real-life connections and build community.
Community Outreach Programs
We donate books to community members and organize community programs and partnerships to support literacy & inspire lifelong readership.
Music & Arts
We host ABC After Dark every weekend and regularly organize (mostly free!) events to highlight the vibrant music and arts scene of the Jersey Shore.
Author Programs
We work with authors and independent authors and publishers to stock in-demand books, host author events, and give a platform to diverse literary voices.
Used Book Exchange
We accept donations of gently used books to provide low-cost, high-quality books to our community. Through our outreach, many of these books are given away for free.
